Recently, students of Hang Zhou Dianzi university have returned to school, how to solve the problem of dining for teachers and students in the whole school has brought some troubles to the school's logistics department. For this reason, they found Yong Chen, an associate professor of the School of Sciences, for help. After discussion, they decided to solve this problem through big data modeling. Immediately, the team of Dr. Yong Chen established a mathematical model based on the queuing theory of operations research. Through the historical data, the card swiping time of each person in the Hangdian canteen, the window service efficiency and other parameters, the simulation of the university dining situation was calculated. After simulation calculations, the mathematical model proposes a solution of combining tableware with meals and returning to the bedroom for dining and fast food supply-the school needs to add 17 temporary special windows for eating and taking away to achieve diversion of cafeteria personnel and needs increase the number of cafeterias. As a result, the average queue time for teachers and students in the cafeteria is only 3.6 minutes.

Yong Chen, male, associate professor, School of Sciences of Hangzhou Dianzi University, graduated from the School of Mathematical Sciences of Zhejiang University in 2011 with a doctorate. A member of the school's mathematical modeling coach team, the person in charge of the school's basic public course linear algebra, and an excellent teacher of the school. Main research are algorithm design and ****ysis, combinatorial optimization, graph theory and network optimization, and mathematical modeling, etc. He has published more than 30 academic papers and chaired three National Natural Science Foundation projects.
