Online communication on the triage of mathematics major for undergraduates in 2019

On May 15, the School of Sciences held a lecture on the triage of 2019 mathematics majors in Dingtalk group. Li Yuan, deputy dean of School of Sciences, presided over the meeting. Deng Chongyang, dean of School of Sciences, Wang Jun, deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, teacher Qin Sen, head of Information and Computing Science, teacher Wang Yang, head of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, teacher Guo Cong, counselor of grade 2019, and all the students majoring in mathematics of grade 2019 attended the lecture.

At the lecture, Deng Chongyang, emphasized that he hopes students to choose the appropriate major according to their actual situation, and said that both information and computational science or mathematics and applied mathematics have very good faculty, everyone can choose with confidence. Wang Jun, deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, expressed the hope that students will learn more information of the two majors from teachers, counselors and seniors, and choose a major that suits them.

Subsequently, Dr. Qin Sen introduced the information and computing science major from four aspects of training objectives, faculty, student employment and unique advantages. Dr. Wang Yang introduced mathematics and applied mathematics in detail from five aspects: training objectives, curriculum introduction and specific modules, main courses, faculty and student employment.

   Through the introduction of the teachers, the students have a better understanding of the two majors, and individuals have a clearer direction of effort.
