On May 7, Elsevier officially released the 2019 Chinese Most Cited Researchers list, and four scholars from our school were selected. Professor Hongkun Xu of the school of sciences was among them, and the number of selected persons ranked 79th in mainland universities.
A total of 2163 scholars from 38 academic fields were selected. Among them, 43 were in the field of control and system engineering, 3 were selected by our university, 93 were by mathematics, and 1 was selected by our school. Being included in the list of Chinese Most Cited Researchers means that the scholar has a relatively large influence in the field of his research, and his scientific research achievements have made a large contribution to the development of this field. His citation frequency is in the top 1% of the same discipline.
It is reported that the list was released by Clarivate Analytic. The number of highly-cited scientists or ESI highly-cited papers plays an important role in the evaluation of universities and disciplines at home and abroad. E.g., Shanghai Ranking’s Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), data such as the number of highly cited scientists and the number of alumni and teachers of the Nobel Prize and Fields Prize are important indices for measuring the academic influence of the school.Hongkun Xu, Ph.D. from Xi'an Jiaotong University (1988), is currently a Professor of Hangzhou Dianzi University, and won the Outstanding Research Award of the South African Mathematical Society in 2004, and the Second Prize of Natural Science of the Ministry of Education in 2004. He was elected as an academician of the South African Academy of Sciences in 2005 and an academician of the Academy of Developing Countries (formerly the Third World Academy of Sciences) in 2012. He is currently the editorial board member/deputy editor of five international mathematics SCI journals and the editorial board member of the book Contemporary Mathematics and Its Applications by World Science and Technology Press. Selected 2014-2016 Thomson-Reuters and 2017-2018 Clarivate Analytics most cited scholars, has published more than 250 papers. 32 master students and 6 doctoral students have been trained.
